How to use Base64 Encoder / Decoder

  1. Paste plain text to encode, or a Base64 string to decode.
  2. Select Encode to convert UTF-8 text into standard Base64.
  3. Select Decode to read standard Base64 as UTF-8 text.
  4. Review the result and use Copy output.

Text encoding without the extra steps.

Base64 represents binary bytes using a limited set of printable characters. This utility converts text to UTF-8 bytes before encoding, so it supports accents, non-Latin scripts and emoji. The decoder expects standard Base64 containing valid UTF-8 text.

Base64 is an encoding, not encryption. It does not protect secrets. This tool does not decode arbitrary binary files or automatically convert URL-safe Base64 variants.

A FEW THINGS TO KNOW

A little more clarity.

Does this support emoji and Unicode?

Yes. Encoding uses UTF-8 bytes, and decoding converts valid UTF-8 bytes back to Unicode text.

Is Base64 encrypted?

No. Anyone can decode a standard Base64 value. Use proper encryption when you need confidentiality.

Why does decoding fail?

The input may be malformed Base64, a URL-safe variant, or binary data that is not valid UTF-8 text.
